Egmore is one of the base stations in the city
of Chennai. The Egmore region is located close to the city center George
Town, less than kilometres from it. The suburbs constitutes one of the
popular commercial centres rooted in the city. The Chennai Egmore
Railway Station, together with Chennai Central Railway Station are two
main entry points in the regions and the epicenters of the vast railway
network that connects the city. The regions lying adjacent to the Egmore
locality include Nungambakkam, George Town and Triplicane.
Egmore locality bears quite an importance following the resources
contained within the suburbs. The locality features some important
tourist attractions and a thriving trade and commerce centre. The
Government Museum is a card-carrying institute in the city. Founded in
the year 1851 A.D., the museum displays some great pieces of art and
architecture. The National Arts Gallery, an integral part of the
Government Museum, attracts tourists throughout the Indian sub
continent.
The Egmore Railway Station presents more of an architecture rather than
a typical halt station. The building of the station has been built in
Indo-Sarcenic style, which makes it noteworthy. The name of the person
associated with the popularity of the railway station is none other than
Robert Chisolm.
