TANGEDCO announces restriction on roof-fixing of solar panels!

The conditions, the procedure, and the restrictions for installing solar panels on the rooftops have been detailed by TANGEDCO.
As per this, an individual will not be allowed to install capacities of solar panels which exceed his/her average power requirement.
As per the Solar Energy Policy of Tamil Nadu, it was planned to generate power through solar energy by fixing solar panels on the rooftops.
Domestic consumers, handloom weavers, nutrition centres, Railway & military residential quarters, government offices, government hospitals, street lights, and commercial buildings including cinema theatres were permitted to install the solar energy systems.
If interested in installing solar energy, the individual has to apply in their EB offices in their area by filling a special form and seek permission. If the distribution transformer in the applicant’s area has the power to add 30% excess and technologically the application details are correct, a decision will be taken to permit or not within 10 days.
Applicants will not be allowed to install capacities higher than their average electric power requirement.
Once permission is given, a 2-way energy meter must be installed. Taking into account the power generated by the installed solar station and its usage, this quantum of power bill be deducted from the bill and the consumer has to pay the balance. If the generation is in excess, the balance quantity will be deducted in the next bill. If the trend of excess power generation continues, a calculation will be made by the year end and the amount for the excess generation will be paid by the EB. A detailed announcement will be made on this aspect.
