Cash on delivery for rail tickets

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is planning to make people book tickets online and then pay the amount via ‘Cash on Delivery’ when the ticket is delivered at their doorstep.
According to a news report, two people familiar with the development of this new option at the website have informed that IRCTC “will for the first time offer the cash-on-delivery option for buying railway tickets.”
The measure is expected to help IRCTC in two ways. On one hand it will cut the high transaction failure rate on its website, while on the other hand the measure will reduce dependence on agents. The new service will be made available through a partnership with BookMyTrain.com.
This new service is expected to help more people, especially those with no Internet banking facility, book a ticket online.
