Chennai Corporation plans to construct footpaths along 20 busy bus route roads

The Chennai corporation is planning to construct footpaths along 20 busy bus route roads at Rs 47 crore.Some of the identified stretches for constructing footpaths include portions of Binny Road, Peters Road, Dr Ambedkar College Road, Ibrahinji Sahib Street, New Vaidhyanathan Street, Purusawalkam High Road and Perambur Barracks Road. The corporation officials also added that the civic body would take steps to ensure that these footpaths are properly maintained without encroachment and damage caused due to maintenance and digging work.
The corporation officials also claimed that the work tenders will be floated for these projects soon. The civic body has been constantly accused of not maintaining the footpaths.
