INDO –JAPAN BUSINESS COOPERATION MOVES TO NEXT LEVEL

Shinya Fujii, Director General, Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) Chennai said on Tuesday that The state Government and The Government of Japan are expected to sign a MOU sometime during last week of October or First week of November for over all development of the state.
According to him, the MoU will focus on development of port and creation of infrastructure projects including Chennai-Bangalore industrial corridor. Top officials will be visiting Chennai during that time. The bullet train project between Chennai and Bangalore will also be discussed. Since Bangalore and Chennai are in different terrains, it would cost more.”
He was speaking at the seminar on ‘Indo-Japan business co-operation in automotive sector` organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). He said that Japanese firms had been evincing keen interest in investing in the State.
Shekar Viswanathan , chairman, Manufacturing Sub-Committee, CII SR; Yosuke Yanagase, president, Global Alliance Network, Japan; Hirokazu Yamaoka, Director, Overseas Business Support Division, JETRO, Tokyo and Shinya Fujii, Director- General, JETRO, Chennai, participated in the seminar .
Harmander Singh, Industries Commissioner and Director of Industries and Commerce, said that 79 projects have been identified under the Cluster Development Programme, of which the Centre has sanctioned financial assistance for 10 to 12 projects.
Kiminobu Tokuyama, Managing Director and CEO, Nissan Motor India Private Ltd., said that by 2012, the number of dealers would be increased from 20 to 100 and the workforce to 3,000 from the present 2,200.
