Beware of dehydration during the summer

It is scorching hot in Chennai and because of this Chennaites should be very cautious of dehydration. Dehydration is a serious risk in the coming months and water and traditional coolants like buttermilk are the optimum solution
 
Some of the points to be noted to avoid dehydration are

·         Doctors’ advice against consuming food high in sugar, or salt, including soft drinks.

·         Glucose is not advisable

·         Drink lots of tender coconut, buttermilk and water.

·         Eat fruits

·         Have ragi (a millet) porridge or rice soaked in water overnight, with raw onions and curds, every morning

·         Eat plenty of watermelon and sprouts this time of the year.

·         Take plenty of buttermilk with a small quantity of rice and a vegetable salad for lunch.
