Free local and STD calls across India, Airtel’s new scheme

Targeted to boost its landline business, Bharti Airtel, India’s largest telecom operator will launch a new scheme of unlimited voice calling for all its broadband customers. This will be available in two plans the first of which will allow free unlimited local calls at Rs 49 per month, while the other will be priced Rs 99 per month for unlimited local and STD calls.
 
As of the ending month of last year, the company had 14.89 lakh broadband customers. This new free voice calling service will be available throughout the day and all 24 * 7.
 
Apart from these, BSNL telecom operator is all set to make a similar scheme made available from 1st May. With this, customers can enjoy free local calls at Rs 49 per month, and local and STD calls at RS 99 per month to any network across the country. This is inclusive of both landline and mobile numbers round the clock.
 
Whereas Airtel makes its scheme available In 87 cities across the country and is available for fixed line telephones and broadband services. According to reports given by TRAI, the landline space is dominated by Airtel whereas BSNL has faced a decline.
