40000 Wi-Fi hotspots throughout the country soon!

Central Minister for Telecommunications, Mr. Ravishankar prasad, informed that 40000 ‘Wi-Fi Hotpots; are to be set up by BSNL at a cost of Rs. 6000 Crores throughout the country to attract customers.

Minister Ravishankar prasad inaugurated the Wi-FI facility at Taj Mahal. Tourists while sight-seeing visiting Taj Mahal can avail free Wi-Fi for the 1st half-an-hour.

After that, they have to pay as per the usage as per a variety of recharge plans introduced.
The minister inaugurated this facility and addressed the gathering:He informed that BSNL has plans to set up 40000 Wi-Fi hotspots throughout the country.This will be completed by 2018.During this year, the plan is set up 200 Wi-Fi hotspots at a cost of Rs. 500 Crores, BSNL Managing Director, Mr. Anupam Shrivasthava, informed that 200 hotpots have been set up.

The Wi-Fi facility can be used any time of the day for 24 hours and is free for the first half-an-hour of usage.After the 1st 30 minutes, extension of usage by 30 minutes to 2 hours can be done by paying Rs. 20/-, Rs, 30/-, Rs. 50/- & Rs. 70/-.BSNL has also planned to improve the existing cell-phone network at a cost of Rs. 200 Crores.
