Tamil Nadu Government: New Regulation Act for Private Schools!

Ex-Railway Minister of central government, Mr. R. Velu had submitted a petition to Chennai High Court during the year 2011.

The details of this petition:

All private schools in Tamil Nadu are functioning under the control of State Education Board. These private schools operate as under the Tamil Nadu Private Schools Regulation Act 1973.

A plan for a common syllabus and common public examination question papers for all government, corporation, and government-aided schools is already in practice. There is a regulation Act for starting private schools. In this scenario, Tamil Nadu government announced a new regulation Act for Matriculation High Schools.

This is a violation of the existing Private Schools regulation Act.Tamil Nadu Government introduced the new Regulation Act for Matriculation High schools to encourage matriculation high schools and opening of additional private schools.Hence, this matriculation Schools regulation Act must be cancelled and declared invalid as against the law. Also, the approval given to all new matriculation high schools must be withdrawn.

The enquiry on this petition was conducted on 8th April by Chief Justice S K Ghoul, Justice T S Sivagnanam. Extension time has been given to submit a new petition which should include all; developments after 201. The next enquiry date was scheduled to be on 17th June.

Today (Wednesday) being 17th June, Tamil Nadu Government had submitted its reply petition. It mentioned that a new Regulation is planned to be introduced for the Regulation of all private Schools in Tamil Nadu. A high-level committee is being formed to discuss and finalise the new Regulation Act.
