Common adulteration done in food items

In most of the food items these days, food coloring has got common. In fact, Appalam are available in different colors. All these added colors are truly harmful to health. Avoiding such food items is highly recommended.
All purpose flour

In the all purpose flour, the most common adulteration added is tapioca powder. This gives it enhanced white color to the flour.

How to identify adulteration in the flour?

Coriander:

To make coriander look shiny, it is added with sulphur dioxide. This can be identified if the coriander seeds look bright and white in color. It is always better to use black coriander in cooking.

In case of oil, the adulteration can only be found in laboratory. In salt, adulteration can be found by dissolving salt in water. On looking at its precipitation, one can know the adulteration in it.
