New facility to help passengers

Passengers who take up long distance travel in express trains will no longer have to buy tickets when they got to switch over to suburban trains. According to sources from the southern railways, the reserved tickets can be used for their mode of travel.
Since July 30, the Union Railway Ministry has allowed the passengers to use the reserved ticket for traveling in suburban trains. According to this, clarifications given by the railway officials, passengers who travel from Tiruchi and Madurai who take express trains and carrying reserved tickets will have to get down at Tambaram and travel until Chennai Egmore on electric multiple unit trains. This journey to Egmore can be made without purchasing separate suburban train ticket.
RTI sources say, as of now, the Passenger Reservation System does not provide any provision for providing ticket between Tiruchi and Guindy.
