Army to rescue and relief measures in Chennai

The Indian Army has been called in for rescue and relief measures in flood affected areas in Chennai due to heavy downpour.
Due to incessant heavy rains and the discharge of excess water from the water reservoirs of Puzhal & Poondi, the river Kosasthalai is flooded.
In the Kunnavakkam Village, located near Chengalpet, 4 lakes – Eechangarai, Thirupperi, Anjur Periya Yaeri, Anjur Naval Yaeri – were breached.
Heavy downpour has been predicted in Tamil Nadu and coastal Andhra Pradesh for the next three days.
