20,638 students have applied for MBBS seats till now

There are 20 government medical colleges in Tamil Nadu. There are 2,650 seats available in these colleges. Out of these 397 (15 percent) seats are allotted to All India quota. The balance 85 percent (2,253 seats) are allotted to state quota. This year there will no entrance examination. The counselling will take place as usual.
65 seats which will come from ESI Medical College will also be taken for counselling. There is only one government dental college. There are only 85 seats under the state quota.
There are 6 self financing medical colleges. There are 472 seats under the government quota and 290 seats under the management quota.
There are 17 self financing dental colleges. In those colleges there are 970 seats available under the government quota and 640 seats under the management quota.
The applications for MBBS and BDS were issued from 26th of last month. So far 20,638 students have applied for these seats. The application forms will be issued till 6th of this month. The last date for receiving the applications is 7th June. The filled up applications should be sent to Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai 10.
Merit list will be declared on June 17 and the first phase of counselling will be held from June 20 to 25. The second phase of counselling will be held from July 18.
