Earlier, it was suggested that people who do not have sufficient physical exercises are likely to be affected by diabetes, liver and heart-related problems, and blood pressure.

However, in a recent survey, it has been found that people who are habituated in the workplace for continued sitting for long durations are likely to be affected by heart problems.

The survey was done for 11 years involving 720425 individuals. It was established that the persons who sat for more than 10 hours were very likely to be affected by heart problems.

It was established that especially the people who sit in their offices for 7 to 8 hours and then return home and do activities like eating, watching television, and working on the computers – all involving sitting posture – are most likely to be affected by heart diseases.

The survey also established that the persons who keep standing for long durations or do work fetching things are the least likely to be affected by heart problems.

It is advised that doing some regular physical exercises by stretching the body in small breaks during the working hours in the offices can help prevent the likelihood of heart problems.
