TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) has informed that the time limit for the unused internet connectivity period in smartphones has been extended from the current 90 days to 1 year.

This decision follows the extension period of data packs for internet mobile internet facility extended to a maximum period of 1 year from the present 3 months.

Until now, the system was that if a customer has not used the facility for a continuous period of 90 days, the SIM card services would be cut off.

As the importance of the internet usage is growing rapidly, considering the customers’ requirements, TRAI has taken this decision.

TRAI has expressed confidence that this would lead to increase in the usage of the mobile internet facility as well increase in the number of new internet users.
