CM Jayalalitha announces drastic measures for the welfare of school children

In her recent announcement, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, J. Jayalalitha had announced a number of special measures for the welfare of school children. This includes distribution of free rain coats, socks and boots for students studying in hilly areas, upgradation of schools, betterment of school infrastructure at a cost of Rs 60 crore, setting up new primary schools, etc.
 
Nearly 5 new schools will be set up, 3 primary schools are to be elevated to middle schools, and 19 middle schools will turn into high schools. A sum of Rs 28 crore will be spent towards upgradation of schools including new classroom set up and infrastructure development.
 
Several constructive measures like erecting compound walls, labs, libraries, computer rooms, additional classrooms, washrooms, and repair works were done in the past five years. In the present academic year, under the Rule 110, a total of Rs 60 crore is allotted, said Jaya, in her statement at the assembly.
 
Floods last year had hit Perumbakkam and Ezhil Nagar residents. Catering to their needs, two new schools will be set up in these areas. Students studying in schools present in hilly regions will be given out with raincoats, boots and socks. Government school students will also receive math kit, science kit, and map drawing training papers at an overall expenditure of Rs 46 crore. New computer coaching centres will be launched at 555 schools which is highly promising to benefit over 40,000 students.
 
As a way of easy teaching, SABL cards are to be distributed to 7000 schools present across 10 districts. At a cost of Rs 45 crore, bio-metric attendance will be introduced. Classrooms walls will soon carry attractive pictures pertaining to academic subjects. Children will be groomed more and better with competitions taking place often. As a move to ensure uniform and quality education, to start with, virtual classroom sessions are to be launched. The best teachers will be rewarded with a cash award of Rs 10,000 which was earlier half of it, Rs 5,000.
