The draft electoral roll to be released on September 1

The local polls took place in Tamil Nadu in the year 2011. The tenure is getting over on 24th of October. Election Commissioner is making arrangements to conduct the local polls well in advance. In Tamil Nadu there are 12 corporations, 125 municipalities, 529 panchayats, 385 panchayat unions, and 12,524 panchayat. So far people were electing the mayors. Now the elected counselors will elect the mayors.
State Election Commissioner P Seetharaman said that the draft electoral roll for the upcoming local body polls in Tamil Nadu will be released on September 1,
Seetharaman, who was here for a review meeting on the preparedness for the polls, told reporters: Preliminary works such as identifying the booths, ascertaining the number of electronic voting machines (EVMs) required etc. have been completed. Security arrangements would be put in place for the smooth conduct of the polls and extra forces would be deployed at the sensitive booths,
