Eight satellites including the weather satellite SCATSAT-1, five other foreign satellites and two domestic ones are to be launched during the morning hours on 26th of September. Officials from the Indian space agency announced the same, adding that these satellites will get launched from Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle. To be precise, these satellites will blast off at 09.12 a.m. from the rocket port located in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.

The satellite SCATSAT-1 contains a cargo weighing 377 kg. This will be used for ocean and weather related studies. An ISRO official revealed that the satellite will halt at 720 km polar sun synchronous orbit. To note, this satellite is a sequel of Oceansat-2 scatterometer meant to provide wind vector data products useful for weather forecasting, detecting cyclone or to track down other services.

This satellite also comprises of Ku-band scatterometer as in case of Oceansat-2. The satellite has a mission life of 5 years. Five other satellites from foreign nations come from Canada, US, and Algeria, and there are two others from Indian universities. These are to reach a 670 km polar orbit.

PSLV, for the very first time, is launching payloads reaching two varied orbits. To note, ISRO tested the multiple burn technology on 16th December 2015.
