Plan to set up Smart Police Stations throughout the country

Following the project of Smart Cities, the central government is earnestly engaged in setting up Smart Police Stations throughout the country.
The central government under the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has initiated several activities to streamline the administration system throughout the country.
One of the activities would be setting up of Smart police station. The central government had ordered to conduct a serious study on this activity.
PPRD (Police Personnel Research and Development), functioning under the Central Home Ministry, has made the draft report for this smart police station project.
The main features of this draft proposal is that the Police Stations have to be classified as Metro, 2nd Grade cities, and village areas.
As per this categorization, uniform smart police stations have to be set up throughout the country. The exterior walls of these police stations will have to be painted with some unique colour indicating the function of the department. This will facilitate the public in easy identification of the police stations.
Currently, the exteriors of the existing police stations are generally shabby.Space is generally insufficient. Cleanliness is far below expectations.
These should be changed trying to create a good image about police stations among the public.
There must be enough space in the police station including proper arrangements for storing data and files, drinking water, electricity, and telecommunication facility. Separate toilets for men and women, dress changing rooms and resting rooms must be provided. Space must also be provided for the visitors coming to make complaints. There should be some entertainment facilities and physical exercise facilities for the police personnel during their leisure sessions.
Special help counters must be set up for the women visiting the police station to register complaints. CCTV camera must be installed inside the police stations and the prisons. A private room must also be available while conducting enquiries with the visitors making complaints.
In the police stations located in regions where there is Naxalite threat and terrorist threats, iron rod fencing , monitoring tower,and siren alarm system during an emergency should all be available.
This draft proposal has been circulated among other ministries for suggestions and feedbacks.
The central government has decided that a final decision will be taken after the analysis of the feedback and suggestion reports to implement the Smart Police Stations throughout the country.
