EPFO - Arrangement to release pension on the date of retirement itself

EPFO (Employees Provident Fund Organisation) has arranged to issue the pension order to the employees on their dates of retirement.
The employees in the private sector retire by the age of 58. In the prevailing procedure, it takes several weeks after their retirement to release their pension orders.
In this situation, EPFO has now taken a decision to release the pension orders on the dates of retirements of the employees.
As per the new procedure, the retiring employee should apply for the release of pension order 10 days before the date of retirement. The employers should also pay their part of the contribution to PF.
In the latest press release, The Additional Commissioner of the EPFO for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, P. T. Sinha, has informed that the retiring employees should approach the nearest EPFO office in their localities.
