TN govt decision to buy 2000 special buses with sleeping berth facilities

The state government of Tamil Nadu had taken a decision to procure 2000 new buses with sleeping facilities (before the month of May) to be on pare with the services with the quality of services offered by the private transport sector.
In an announcement released in this regard by the State Department of Transport, it is stated that in the 1st Phase of this project, it has been decided to procure 2000 new buses including 20 buses with sleeping and toilet facilities.
The new super-deluxe buses with sleeping facilities will be operated from May.
Apart from this, the final stages of discussions are in progress to buy 200 battery-operated buses jointly with the central government.
In a recent measure, all the bus fares in Tamil Nadu including ordinary bus fares have been increased by the government. There have been strong protests against this throughout the state.
In this scenario, it is notable that the state government is going ahead with the plan to buy 2000 new deluxe buses with latest facilities.
