Chief Minister Jayalalithaa,TN Governor greet people

Tamilnadu Governor K Rosaiah and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today extended greetings to people on the occasion of the harvest festival Pongal, which also marks the beginning of the auspicious Tamil month `Thai`, being celebrated on Monday.
In her greetings, Jayalalithaa said irrespective of caste differences and with brotherhood, the Pongal festival is celebrated by the Tamils across the world.
`Though there are many business in the world, farming tops the list. Considering the welfare of farmers, to uplift their life and to bring green revolution in Tamilnadu, the State government has been implementing various welfare schemes,` the Chief Minister said.
`On the happy occasion of Pongal and Sankaranthi, I convey my heartiest greetings and best wishes to the people living in Tamilnadu and elsewhere in the country,` Rosaiah said in a statement.

He also said `Let us on this day resolve to live in consonance with nature, promote greenery, preserve and protect our environment. May the harvest festival usher in peace, progress, prosperity and all round development in the nation.`
