Venu Srinivasan, Chairman of TVS Motor Company

Venu Srinivasan is the Chairman of Sundaram-Clayton Groups in which TVS Motor Company is one of the concerns. TVS is the India’s third largest two-wheeler making company. Venu Srinivasan is also one of the board members of Tata Sons Ltd, the holding company of the consolidated ventures of Tata Group.

Venu Srinivasan is the grandson of T.V.Sundaram, the founder of TVS group. He finished his initial graduation from the College of Engineering, Guindy and Master of Science degree in Management from Purdue University in the USA.

After the educational phase of his life Venu Srinivasan became the Managing Director of the Sundaram-Clayton company in May 1979. In late 80’s he became the chairman of TVS Motor Company. With his management he revolutionized the company’s two wheeler production and distribution. The light weight two wheelers of the TVS became a wide spread automobile in all parts of Tamil Nadu especially in the rural areas.

There were several controversies in managing the labor strikes of the TVS Motor Company. Later Venu Srinivasan implemented total quality control plants and imported machineries for advanced production of vehicles.

In 2002 TVS Motor Company became the first two wheeler manufacturing company to win the prestigious Deming prize. Venu Srinivasan’s wife Mallika Srinivasan is the known Industrialist and the chairperson of the Tractor Company TAFE.
