As a low-pressure zone has formed over the south coastal region, fishermen from the southern districts are not allowed to venture into the sea.

The summer is at its peak throughout the country. The northern and central parts of the country have been subjected to cyclones and heat waves incurring heavy damages.

Though the scorching summer is persisting in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu, due to the abrupt changes happening in the Arabia Sea and the Indian Ocean, there has been excess rain in this summer season.

In this situation, a low-pressure zone has formed over the southwest region of the Arabian Sea. This may intensify into a depression zone and drift towards the west towards Yemen and Somalia as per the estimation of the Indian Weather Bureau.

As stormy conditions may prevail in the sea, the fishermen from the southern districts are not allowed to go fishing.

The director of the Chennai Meteorological Centre, S. Balachandran, explained:

There are prospects of heavy rain in the interior districts of the north and the south Tamil Nadu.

The Chennai Metro City will have the normal routine weather of the summer. The sea breeze will set in during the evening and reduce the intensity of the heat.
