Vinayaka Chaturthi, a celebration for Elephant God

Vinayaka Chaturthi is celebrated all over India that is purely dedicated to the worship of Lord Ganesha. According to the Hindu calendar the Chaturthi is something that comes fourth day after new moon and fourth day after a full moon. With this calculation there are two Chaturthi thithi every month. Legend says that Lord Ganesha is in the fourth state and to celebrate the auspicious worship day on Chaturthi is considered to be highly powerful for the wellness and spiritual progression.

The festival is celebrated in the month of Bhadrapada that comes in between August and September. The timings of Ganesha pooja begins from 11:09 am to 1:35 pm in a duration of 2 hours 26 minutes. Materialistic progression, Health, Happiness and Career progression are the main objectives behind the fasting in Chaturthi days. The driving forces of knowledge, wisdom and compassion can be achieved with a peaceful life for those who commits to fast in the Chaturthi day.

The birth of Lord Ganesha took place on the fourth day of the bright fortnight marked in the Hindu month of Magh. So the Chaturthi day was clearly dedicated to Lord Ganesha and legend says the benefits of fasting on this day can do positive wonders.

People can start the day with early rising and taking the holy bath with the slogans of Lord Vinayaka. Then followed by special rituals to the Elephant God combined with the fast till the moon rise will bring prosperity, health and happiness with the positive vibrations of Chaturthi day. Fasting can be ended with fruits and after a small break combined with a worship of the celestial body, moon proper food can be consumed.
