The officials of the Chennai Meteorological Centre explained that the low-pressure zone which formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal and the adjacent Andaman Sea and the Indican Ocean has been prevailing in the same place over the last few days. As this is located far away from Tamil Nadu, there are prospects of a dry climate to persist for 2 days in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

The Chennai Metro City and its suburbs will remain generally cloudy. There are no prospects of rain.

During the northeast monsoon season from 1st October to 26th December, an average rainfall of 434 mm should have recorded. However, the rainfall during this period has only been 336 mm so far. This is 23% lesser than the average expected.
