The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that the prevailing foggy climate conditions and the extent of heat will persist for the next 2 weeks.

This year’s northeast monsoon rainy season has been an utter disappointment. At the same time, snowfall, fog, and extreme chill climate has been persisting and shivering cold climate prevails during both day and night sessions, During the nights and early mornings, snowfall and foggy climate persist with an extremely chill winter session.

In this scenario, the public expected at least some mild rain. However, the cyclone Papuk, formed over the South China Sea, drifted to Andaman while absorbing all the humidity from the sea thus totally preventing any scope for rains.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) released the estimate weather forecast for the period until 24th January. As per this, there is absolutely no prospect for the formation of depression zones or cyclone formats in the coming days thus ruling out any scope for rains. This would cause an increase in the prevailing foggy conditions. During the noon sessions, the dull extent of heat will prevail.
