A low-pressure zone has formed over the Indian Ocean area adjacent to the Bay of Bengal. This depression may lead to some rainfall in Tamil Nadu.

With the most prominent avenue of the northeast monsoon season having utterly failed in Tamil Nadu this year, the state is set to encounter severe water shortage. Further, this may lead to drought conditions in the northern districts of the state. Several districts including Chennai are set to face acute water shortage. The pre-summer season is all set to start in another 3 weeks. It has been estimated that there are prospects of mild rains.

Meanwhile, there are indications of a very welcome relief to the sore expectations of the public for rain – A low-pressure zone has formed over the Indian Ocean area adjacent to the Bay of Bengal over southeast Sri Lanka.

It has been estimated that due to this low-pressure format, the swarm of clouds crossing the atmosphere may bring mild rains to the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

The weather analysts have observed that it may take a week’s time to judge the movement of the above depression zone as it intensifies.
