Ride from Washermanpet to airport in Chennai is just 45 minutes now

For nearly 7 years of time, commuters have been putting up with the heavy traffic congestion and restricted road places in Chennai. It is now revealed that the commuters would be able to travel entire 45 km of stretch of phase-1 metro in just 40 minutes.

On Sunday, phase-1 project work of CMRL was completed with the opening of 10 km stretch from AG-DMS to Washermanpet. This phase-1 of the project was announced a decade before is well known. Video conferencing process was used yesterday by prime minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi and chief minister of TN, Mr. E. Palaniswami and launching of the stretch was done from Tirupur.

The amazing piece of news collected was the travel time for the commuters travelling from Washermanpet in northern part of Chennai to the airport in southern part of Chennai would be reduced. The point to be noted here is it might take commuter about one hour and 15 minutes by road to travel from the above mentioned place to the airport. By travelling using metro it might take just 40 minutes of time. It must not be forgotten that travelling from Chennai Central to airport through Government Estate would be just 30 minutes using metro train. This travel would take up to one hour when a commuter travels by road in the peak hours of time.

Point is the maximum fare for the ticket has been reduced by Rs 10 and the minimum and maximum ticket rates are Rs 10 and Rs 60 respectively. The superb information is the frequency of metro trains has gone up. The good news is there would be trains for every 5 minutes of time in the peak hours and one every 7 min in the non-peak hours. It is now brought out that the present trains would be extended beyond the present timings of 6 am to 10 pm.
