Fees for B.Ed., M.Ed. courses to be raised in self-financed private academic colleges

Posted on: 22/Mar/2019 12:13:32 PM
The council headed by the justice N.V Balasubramanian has taken a decision to revise the fees upwards for the courses offered including B. Ed. and M. Ed. by the self-financed private colleges.

There are more than 500 academic colleges, teachers’ training schools, and Physical Education colleges in Tamil Nadu offering various graduate and post-graduate courses.

The academic colleges offer courses on B. Ed. and M. Ed. Some colleges also offer integrated 5-years courses B. Sc.  B. Ed. and B.A. B.  Ed.

In the teachers’ training colleges, the courses offered include Primary Education Diploma (for the Middle-level teachers’ training). The Physical Education colleges offer B. Ed. and M. Ed.

In order to regulate the academic fees charged by the private colleges, a ‘Fees Fixing Council’ headed by Justice N. V. Balasubramanian has been functioning. This council decided the fees structure during the year 2016. As this comes to a close this year, a new fees structure has to be decided from this year which will be valid for the 3 academic years – 2019-20, 2020-21, and 2021-22.

The council has sent letters to the above private colleges principals and administrators to furnish the full details of estimated/expected fees structure, the courses offered, and the infrastructure facilities.

The report submitted by the private colleges will be scrutinized and then, based on the infrastructure facilities, building/construction facilities, the laboratory facilities, etc., of the respective colleges. The new fees structure will be decided.
