What are atmospheric water generators?

Air basically contains water. We can feel thick and uncomfortable air on days when it is hot and muggy. The reason is that the air is found saturated with excessive moisture. So, here we need to understand about water makers. Water makers or water generators are used for extracting water out of humid air. This is achieved in 2 ways:
Water Generator - Method 1
The first method is where the technique involved is quite similar to general home appliances in domestic use like the air conditioner. The warm air is subjected through few coils which is then chilled down using refrigerators. When the air is cold, it will lose its potential to hold water vapors unlike warm air. Hence, this results in condensation and ends at in draining. So, coming on to the water generator, the aim is not to make the air cool, but to get the interior of rooms feel comfortable. We basically target condensation and filter it out, and store in carafe/holding tank. The usage of this kind of water generator is mainly domestic in nature. Water generators of cooling type make use of compressed refrigerant with the use of compressor, pump, condenser, and fan. According to water generator manufacturers, the energy consumed by these water generators are quite similar to that of computers or other small electronic appliances in use.
Water Generator Method 2
The second type of water generator is meant for large scale usage. Generally it is deployed for military or industry needs where water generation works based on chemistry. There is a cocktail of different chemical salts deployed to extract water out of air.

So, in these large scale, desiccant-based water generators, the humid air is sent through a cocktail of chemical salts. As this is done, wet salt gets heated until boiling point and the steam is then condensed back and sent to filters for further processing. As a move to save energy at this stage, the boiling point of water is reduced with the introduction of vacuum.
In this type of water generators that work based on desiccant, the advantage is that they are highly energy efficient when set against other practical options.
These atmospheric water generators suck out water present in the surroundnding air. This is then filtered to take away particulates and bacteria. So, the water thus obtained as a result will contain no chemical and hazard-free.

Do water generators work anywhere and everywhere? NO!

And the humidity should lie a little higher than a proposed concentration level. This may differ according to the manufacturer and type of generator used. The process may also get impacted with increased altitude.
