Till 31st May, Amma canteens to provide free food for public

There are as many as 407 Amma canteens in the Chennai city and many people go to these to get food. Important information is these Amma canteens would provide free food for the public till 31st of May 2020 as per the order issued by the CM of TN, Mr. E. Palaniswami. This was pointed out by Mr. S.P. Velumani, municipal administration minister.
It must be noted that a review meeting took place at Secretariat to discuss about the corona virus prevention works undertaken by the Municipal Administration and Rural Development Department. The instruction about free supply of food at Amma canteens was mentioned by the CM in this meeting.
It was later brought out by the minister Mr. Velumani that from Wednesday all the 407 Amma canteens would serve food free of cost till 31st May 2020. He explained about how TN could overcome Corona virus if proper awareness was made on wearing face masks, frequent hand washing and social distancing etc. Instructions were given by CM of TN for the distribution of 2 face masks each to 26 lakhs people belonging to the slum areas in Chennai. Till now, 8 lakhs people have got face masks distributed by the corporation.
