Step to resolve exorbitant auto fares at Chennai central

As a step to resolve the prevailing problem of prepaid auto services at Chennai central, various officials of southern railway, metro rail, officials from state transport department, auto drivers and government railway police had a discussion on Thursday. The police officials objected the operation of these autos on EVR periyar salai.
Since the Chennai metro rail has acquired land for construction, the autos were forced to clear the place and move elsewhere. Showing minimal auto service, the public were charged with exorbitant prices as auto fare.
