Superb news for Tamilans - Know about this new Tamil channel launched by the Indian Prime Minister!!

Don`t be surprised if you come across brand new television serials, interesting debate shows and new movies etc in the revamped DD Podhigai channel from 19th January onwards!!
The news that the prime minister of India Mr. Narenda Modi has launched the revamped DD Podhigai as DD Tamil Channel has been the subject of discussion for many now.
It is noteworthy that the prime minister has also dedicated 12 Akashvani FM projects in 8 states like TN and 4 DD transmitters in Jammu & Kashmir. He laid the foundation stone for 26 new FM transmitter projects in 12 states under the BINDE scheme that is worth Rs 179.79 cr.
The prime minister later mentioned how Chennai DD Kendra began broadcasting in 1975 and how it is embarking on a new journey. Mr. L. Murugan, union minister for information & broadcasting spoke about how an upgraded new format DD Tamil channel was on air.
It is learnt that a huge amount of Rs 2500 cr would be used to make the government`s information and broadcasting services to all border villages in India. On 22nd January 2024, Ayodhya`s Ram temple consecration ceremony would be telecasted live in DD Tamil channel. An amount of Rs 39.71 cr has been used to revamp DD Podhigai channel.
Information is that the new FM transmitters in 8 states would cover over 45000 sq km and would reach 1.4cr people. By this, the total coverage would be increased to 60.5% per area and 74.75% by population. It is worthy to mention here that of these new FM transmitter projects three have been allocated to Yercaud, Kumbakonam and Vellore in TN. An amount of Rs 49.26 cr would be spent for these.
