Chilly winter to subside - heat level to increase

The Meteorological Centre has informed that the foggy weather prevailing in the last few weeks will subside. As the northeast monsoon rainy season untterly failed in Tamil Nadu, a chilly shivery winter substituted for the failed rains!

The wintry weather commenced during the 3rd week of November, has persisted over the last one-and-a-half months.

In this situation, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has released the weather forecast for the next 2 weeks. It is mentioned:

There will be a spurt of increase in temperature in the southern states including Tamil Nadu. A dry climate will prevail during the noon sessions.

In a notification released by the Chennai Meteorological Centre, it is mentioned that noon time temperatures will be up in the next 5 days in most parts of the states. However, foggy conditions will prsist during the nights and early mornings sessions. However, this will subside gradually.

As on 8.30 AM yesterday (Friday, 19th January), there were no rains in the state.The extent of fog and snow were higher in the areas such as Valparai and Ooty. A temperature of 5 Degrees Celsius prevailed. As for the noon session heat intensity, the highest temperature in the state, 33 Degrees Celsius, was recorded in Karur Paramathi and Salem.

Temperature recorded in Degrees Celsius in other areas: Kanyakumari, Madurai, Namakkal – 32, Thondi, Tiruthani, Parangippettai, Dharmapuri, Coimbatore, and Trichy- 31, Vellore, Thoothukudi, Thanjavur, Puducherry, Palayamkottai, Adhirampattinam – 30, Chennai, Nagapattinam, Pamban -29.
