At 46 locations in Chennai, Greater Chennai Corporation or GCC would construct modern buildings to improve the urban primary health care. It is known that currently about 23000 inpatients visit 140 hospitals of the Chennai Corporation for primary healthcare services.
Mr. Jagadeesan, city health officer of GCC expressed his thoughts. He spoke about how atleast 46 of the UPHC have been functioning from cramped buildings in Chennai. He added that new buildings would be constructed to improve the services.
It must be noted that the GCC has invited bids for the construction of modern hospitals for PHC in the areas such as ward 63, Langs garden Road in Pudupet, ward 49 Solaiappan Street in Sanjeevarayanpet, ward 55 Amman Koil Street, Seven Wells, ward50 Suryanarayana Street in Royapuram and ward 42, Thiruvottiyur High Road in Jeeva Nagar. Point to be noted is that the residents want speedy completion of the projects.
