Chennai Metro Rail to get approval from centre shortly

The much awaited approval from the first phase of Chennai Metro Rail between Washermanmpet and Winco Nagar is soon expected. The proposal was forwarded to the centre many years ago, but there have been no approval until recent days.
‘Recently, the Centre sent writing to us seeking for further information which will soon be provided. And the approval is expected soon, said an official of Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL). Sources say, the proposal was sent to the planning commission too. In the year 2010, approval was given by the State government after conducting necessary soil tests.
