Prepaid swipe card at four toll plazas in the city

National Highways Authority of India has introduced a prepaid swipe card at four toll plazas in the city and a dedicated lane for those using such cards.
The pilot project was inaugurated on Tuesday after the state traffic planning cell (STPC) officials mooted an electronic tag system to prevent traffic pile-up at toll plazas on highways that lead to Chennai.
The facility has been introduced at Akkarai on ECR, Thoraipakkam, Karanodai near Red Hills and Sriperumbudur -the gateways to the city.
