Chennai city would soon add one more feather to its cap. The amazing piece of news is soon a new museum of different kind would be making its presence felt in Kilpauk Water Works complex in Chennai. The point is to spread awareness about the water supply infrastructure, Chennai metro water would be setting up a museum in the Kilpauk Water Works complex.

In the city of Chennai treated water supply is being provided by this 104 year old water treatment plant, Kilpauk Water Works Complex is known. In this place raw water from Red hills reservoir gets treated and gets distributed to many parts of the Chennai city. The important piece of information is the museum in the heritage structure would have live models of rain water harvesting and desalination plants in Nemmeli and Minjur and sewage treatment plants.

Bids have been called for the museum and in another 2 to 3 months of time works to build water museum would begin. This was confirmed by the sources. This upcoming museum would spread information about water supply distribution to the growing Chennai city. It is worthy to mention here that this museum would also play a role in creating awareness regarding the functions of metro water and technology adopted in treatment plants and desalination facilities.

The valves and pipes are used as the part of water distribution network is well known. It is said that the museum would have models showcasing these valves and pipes. For the students as well as visitors to understand better about the infrastructure, interactive kiosks with touch screens would be provided.

The sources have pointed out that large touch screen panels would also be installed so that the information on water and sewage treatment techniques would be known. Not many would have known about J.W. Madeley who was a special engineer to the corporation of Madras in the past. He played a crucial role in executing the scientifically designed water distribution system. It is now revealed that the visitors would be learning about this person in this upcoming water museum. People visiting this museum would be amazed to see the presence of water fountains and landscaping etc.
