Please avoid these foods as they could trigger IBS or irritable bowel syndrome in us

It is not surprising that these days we often come across the term IBS or Irritable Bowel Syndrome. In this fast paced world people consume different types of food items without knowing the side effects that these food items could create in them. This IBS is a group of symptoms such as pain in the abdomen, changes in the movement of bowels etc. It is now revealed that this IBS could affect our day to day life if proper care is not taken by us. People with irritable bowel syndrome show many symptoms like anxiety, depression, chronic fatigue syndrome etc in them. People with IBS have their large intestine affected in them.

There are certain foods that could trigger IBS and people must avoid these foods.

Avoid foods rich in gluten:

Present in wheat, barley etc, gluten is a protein is known. There are few foods that are rich in gluten. Examples are cereals, grains, pasta, packed and processed foods etc. Persons having IBS must certainly avoid foods having gluten in them as it could trigger IBS.

Avoid intake of dairy products:

The dairy products have fat in them and that is not good as it could result in diarrhoea issues etc.  It is advisable to switch over to low fat or nonfat dairy products. Lactose intolerance is found in people having IBS. It is said that if a person is lactose intolerant plus having IBS then he or she must go for other dairy alternatives like oat milk, soy cheeses, rice milk etc.

Avoid insoluble fibre intake:

The foods we eat like whole grains, vegetables, fruits etc are rich in fibre content. Fibre tolerance is different for different people. People having IBS would have severe diarrhoea when they consume foods rich in insoluble fibre content. They are advised to take soluble fibre foods. One important point that must be kept in mind is insoluble fibre might relieve us from issues like constipation etc but it might cause bloating.

Avoid caffeine rich products:

Caffeine is present in coffee, tea, packaged drinks etc. When these are consumed it might increase diarrhoea. Hence these above mentioned caffeine containing items must be avoided as it could trigger IBS.

Avoid intake of processed foods:

The processed foods have high amounts of preservatives and additives in them. Hence intake of processed foods must be avoided by those having IBS as it could trigger IBS. Examples of processed foods are potato chips, hot dogs, sausages etc. Intake of fresh foods is good for the health.

Avoid chocolates:

The presence of high sugars plus caffeine content in chocolates could trigger IBS. Hence it is important to avoid these chocolate bars and candies. There are few people who experience constipation after intake of chocolates.

Avoid garlic, onions etc:

The garlic and onion are used in preparation of many delicious dishes. People having IBS must avoid the intake of garlic and onion. Cramping and gas could result.

Avoid intake of broccoli and cauliflower:

Usually these are good for the health as intake of these cruciferous vegetables could provide many benefits. These vegetables are difficult to digest and i it might trigger IBS. Hence must be avoided.

Avoid alcohol consumption:

We all know that intake of alcohol is not good for our health. IBS could be triggered by the intake of alcohol too. So alcohol must be avoided at any cost.
