Extensive rainfall has brought relief to Chennai residents from the scorching summer heat. Various parts of the city witnessed widespread rain, including Egmore, Chintadripet, and Neelankarai. The Chennai Meteorological Department forecasts continued rain in 14 districts, including Chennai, over the next three hours.
In Tamil Nadu, several districts are experiencing heavy rainfall amidst the summer heat, with delta districts like Thanjavur and Nagai particularly affected. Pattukottai recorded the highest rainfall of 16 cm as of 8 am today, with Tiruvarur also experiencing heavy rain.
The Commissioner of Revenue Administration has issued warnings to 26 districts, including Kanyakumari and Virudhunagar, to take necessary precautions due to the forecast of very heavy rain.
The Chennai Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rain with strong winds in most parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal until the 19th, with a likelihood of similar conditions persisting till the 21st. Fishermen have been advised against venturing into certain coastal areas due to cyclonic wind warnings.
