TIRUCHI MUNICIPAL CORPORATION NEW MOBILE COMPUTERIZED TAX COLLECTION UNIT

The Tiruchi Municipal Corporation, known for its innovative method of Tax collection has launched mobile computerised tax collection unit to pay all the corporation taxes. This is with effective Sunday last.

The facility aims at benefiting both the corporation and the tax payers, so that the people could remit all the dues to the civic body at their doorstep.

The Corporation Mayor, S. Sujatha inaugurated the scheme .The initiative involves renovation, including cost of computers and other facilities , is estimated to cost around of Rs. 7.45 lakh.Two computers with Internet connection with 2 Mbps speed and printers have been installed. The generator connected to the mobile unit will ensure continuous power supply.

The mobile unit will be operated round the year in all its four zones. The programme is expected to net more revenue for the corporation and also ensure hassle-free collection drive.

The schedule for every month as follows: the Srirangam Zone- first week. Ariyamangalam Zone - second week. Ponmalai Zone- third week and Ko Abishekarapuram Zone- last week.

The unit will operate on six days in a week -  in a particular street for a duration ranging between two to four hours, depending upon the number of house holdings in that street.

 The unit starts its first camp in the areas under Ponmalai Zone from August 16 to August 21.
