The latest news is the detailed project report or DPR of Port- Maduravoyal elevated 4-lane corridor would be finalised by NHAI or National Highway Authority of India by the end of September month.
A meeting with the union surface ministry would be conducted and half finished works would be taken up by the month of January in 2019. This was confirmed by the NHAI officials.
From the month of February in 2018, the officials have started the detailed project report and the details have been informed to the union road ministry of developments. It is brought out that the ministry had given instructions to speed up DPR and other procedures.
A motorist spoke about how the project was proposed by the government 11 years ago and was in complete. He also added that the government must take corrective steps to start the project again for the sake of many motorists. An engineer belonging to NHAI spoke about how all the certificates were received from the state government. He later highlighted how union surface ministry was eager to take up this project.
A senior NHAI official expressed his views and spoke about how the blueprint was already prepared by the officials and there was no change in this blueprint. There would not be any delay in the construction work. He later hinted that there would be meeting and stakeholders such as union surface ministry, state highways and national highways would take part in the meeting.
He finally spoke about the work that would begin in the month of January in 2019. It must not be forgotten that this project was taken up in the year 2009 at a cost of Rs 1800 crores. The environment clearance certificate was not provided by the state government as many pillars passed through the Cooum River.
