Starfish baffle scientists

Two students of the University of Southern Denmark are baffled by their new discovery. The students had injected microchips in 20 starfish to track their behaviour and health patterns. Using microchips to learn more about animals is a widespread experiment, used all over the world.
However, the starfish seem to reject the microchips and end up squeezing the objects out of their bodies. This is the first time scientists have witnessed this. "Every time we put a tag into a starfish, they rid themselves of the tag within a few days. It came out directly through the skin... The starfish simply pushed it out through the skin at the end of one arm and then went on as if nothing had happened”, say the students.
