Study on ‘healthy’ searches in Google

Posted on: 19/Apr/2014 4:26:10 PM
Aiming at improving the strategies of public health, a new study was made on health related searches made in Google. This included study on search keywords that included the term ‘healthy’. For example, healthy diet. According to the study reports, the searches were high in frequency by 30 per cent during the initial days of a week. This is found to get reduced eventually and gets reduced during weekends. Also, it is found that Saturdays have the lowest ‘healthy’ search numbers.

Speaking to the co-author and professor of Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Joanna Cohen, PhD, he suspected this effect to be because of the fresh start that every Monday has. Most people tend to get into unhealthy practices by weekends mainly because it is considered for relaxation, entertainment and rejuvenating oneself. So, Monday serves to reset the ‘healthy being’ factor in the people. Sickness takes a weekly turnaround time to make a comeback every time. This study got published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine.
