Tamilnadu Electricity Board planning hike the tariff by 10
to 12 percent for domestic consumers and 5 percent for Industrial Consumers.
The TNEB has submitted petition to that effect to the Tamilnadu Electricity
Regulatory Commission. The petition submitted on 18th January has
admitted by the commission. However the consumers
of 101 to 200 units range are being spared; there will be no change in the
tariff of Rs 2.60 per unit. For other consumers the increase will be in the
range of 10 to 12 percent. The proposed
tariff revision is to net add on revenue to the board to the extent of Rs 1,000
crore for 2010-2011.The commission will interact with the public before
deciding on the petition.
