CHILDREN MUST BECOME AWARE OF BASIC HEALTH PROBLEMS.

L.Yarham of International NGO for Health Education and promotion was in the
city and held discussions with officials of State School Education department
and Human resources ministry on including Health awareness in the school
syllabus. Yarham has been working in the area school health programs for about
a decade. He opined that Children’s health is vital to public health. The
syllabus being prepared would include range of topics from
nutrition, environmental health and dangers of substance abuse, to social
health, safety aspects .Consumer health is also covered in detail with suitable
examples and illustrations. The program is designed to make the child
understand the significance and its relevance.
Yarham explained that
the new syllabus would involve even the teachers, the parents and community.
The program is child-centric involves lively teaching and learning methods.
