Hitesh Patel, Executive Vice President, Kingfisher has signed a memorandum of understating with Anna University to develop systems to reduce emission. Initially the facilities in Anna University will be used for System Modeling, and biofuel would be used in the ground equipment of the airline. Post its success it would be extended to the engines of the aircrafts, for which Kingfisher would make arrangement with the Engine manufacturers. Mannar Jawahar, Vice-Chancellor, Anna University, Chennai, said the Industrial Engineering department would be the nodal agency for the project. Other departments including Automobile Engineering and Mechanical Engineering were also involved in the multidisciplinary research, he said. The MOU is for a period of four years.
