Rs 1,100cr set aside to supply free laptops

The state has allocated Rs 1,100 crore to supply free laptops to 5.5 lakh students in the current academic year, said information minister K T Rajendra Balaji. He made the announcement while reviewing the projects by the special programme implementation department. The government has handed over more than 17 lakh laptops to students of government and government-aided colleges and technical institutes since May 2011.
