Tamil actor Bala Murali Mohan commits suicide

Tamil actor Bala Murali Mohan who was fondly called "Horlicks Mama" committed suicide by hanging himself from the roof of his house at Purasawalkam in Chennai on Wednesday night. He was 54 and is survived by his wife, Seetha Rani, and son, Uma Shankar, who is in the US.
The actor has starred in several advertisements as well as television serials like "Thendral." He has also been part of a few Tamil films including "Rendu", "Boys", "Alli Thandha Vaanam", "Citizen", "Hey Ram" and "Thavasi" among others.
Mohan is said to have been depressed due to lack of work commitments for the last five to six months.
Police said Bala Murali took the extreme step when he was alone at his home. The actor`s wife found his dead body when she peeped into the house through a window after her repeated knocks on the door had failed to elicit any response.
Police said the reason for his suicide was not known. They were trying to find out whether he had left behind any suicide note.
